MY ADVENTURES IN KOREA

December 22, 2009

Hi Everyone! I’ve been in Korea for about a month now and I have a month left of my vacation! I’ve had quite the adventure so far! A few days after arriving I ended up getting swine flu!!! And most recently I ended up getting the stomach flu! How come it’s always when you travel you end up getting sick?! I was so careful about washing my hands, avoiding people who are coughing, taking my vitamins, etc etc etc. But I guess my immune system is horrible, or the fly is just a lot stronger in Korea!

Well in-between being sick I’ve been able to see a lot of cool things and even saw it snow twice!!!!! Since I didn’t update for so long there are SO MANY photos!!!! I thought it would be fun to mix it up and use Poladroids. This is the most awesome program ever! It’s completely free and it makes your photos look so fun! Enjoy my first month in Korea!

For those curious all these photos are a mix from my dslr, point & shoot, and blackberry! Yes my blackberry works in Korea and it’s so awesome!

DARA + ROHIT | WEDDING

December 2, 2009

Hello from Korea!  I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving!  I’m here in Korea for vacation, but I’ve been working hard to get all my weddings edited so keep checking the blog because I have plenty of updates coming!!!

If I could describe Dara + Rohit’s wedding, I think I would choose to say it was like an adult children’s party!  The bright colors, balloons, fun activities, and casual setting made this wedding super memorable.  The day went smoothly and they got to spend a lot of time with their family and friends which was what they really wanted to do!  Thank you so much for letting me capture these moments for you.  And a huge thank you to Ian Lee for capturing some awesome moments as well!!!

Ian got this awesome pic of Dara getting ready

First look

I just loved this angle Ian caught of the ring shot

So fun!!!!

My favorite!

LOVE this wedding! All the bright colors, clever details and happy moments had me smiling through the entire post! :) Beautiful work Hana!

I was so excited to shoot Jasia + Daniel’s wedding!  The weather was absolutely perfect compared to the dreaded SF fog we experienced the whole week prior.  I think Jasia + Daniel did an amazing job planning their wedding while busy with their residency and living in Southern California!  A big thank you to Clarence Harvey for assisting me on this wedding!

Location – Sutro Heights Park
Reception – Koi Palace

We started the day off at the Palace of Fine Art to do their first look and portraits!

One of my favs!

One of the most unique rings I’ve seen so far!  Daniel loves surfing so they got waves engraved into his ring!!!

He came all the way from China to make this special calligraphy piece for them!

I love how they decorated their car!  The Dr. Dr. picture is hilarious!

I love it!!! Thank you so much Hana (and Clarence) for capturing our day – it was so much fun working with you guys!

The PHOTOWALL was a huge hit at Jasia + Daniel’s wedding!  Here are some fun images we got from the night!

If any of my current clients want to add the photowall to their wedding packages I’ll do it at a discounted rate so just shoot me an email!

This is how Jasia + Daniel felt after a long day!

APRIL + JASON | WEDDING

October 14, 2009

I went to church with April + Jason when I lived in Irvine.  Although I didn’t know them too well throughout college I was so thrilled when they hired me to shoot their wedding.  Even at their engagement session I had a feeling their wedding would be something special!  I feel like I’ve gotten to know them so much better throughout this process and I can see how they’re such a perfect fit for each other.  It was so sweet to see how Jason was so attentive to April on their big day.  He constantly asked me how she was doing and if she needed anything.  He said he just wanted everything to be perfect for her!

Get ready for a mega post!  There were just so many moments I wanted to share it was hard for me to narrow it down to show on the blog so I figured why not just post everything I want?!

I want to thank Crystal for helping me out that day!

April made all the centerpieces!

Putting a wedding dress on usually takes everyone’s help!!!

They decided to do a first look.  It was cute because Jason really wanted it to be a first look so he walked backwards all the way down before he turned around to see his beautiful bride!

For a second they couldn’t find the ring!  Everyone thought they were joking around but suddenly Jason picked up something off the ground!!!!  PHEW!

The bridal party entrance was hilarious!

April + Jason treated the guests to a few songs throughout the reception!  They were really good!!!!

Instead of clanking the glasses for a kiss they told the guests they would imitate whatever the guests did.  Their guests were not shy!!!

They had to do a combo fo these two kisses.

These kids had enough of the kissing!

They did the traditional Korean ceremony called Paebaek after the reception.

Ahhh, this one is beautiful Hana. Very vibrant, and colorful…it’s all about the purple! Congrats to the bride & groom!

I recently did a photo shoot for a clothing store called Pretty In Pink.  They sold really cute clothes and accessories for women, plus size, and children.  It had the vibe of a Forever21 store, but I felt like it was more organized.  There are two locations in NorCal.  One in San Lorenzo and one in Dublin if you’re ever looking for somewhere new to go!

I’m excited because some of the photos I took are going to be featured as an advertisement in East Bay Regal theaters during the pre-preview time!

CHARLOTTE + PHILLIP

October 5, 2009

Charlotte and Phillip are such an awesome couple.  I love hearing stories of my clients.  It’s funny how love can find each other from across the world.  Although they’re both originally from Hong Kong, they met each other when they ended up at the same college in Boston.  They’ve been together since college and both moved out to California where the weather is more forgiving =)

They’re getting married in Hong Kong, but I was excited to be able to do their engagement shoot!  Again I can’t emphasize enough how windy it is all the time at the beaches in NorCal!!!!  I’m just happy we were able to find little nooks where we could escape!

I need to mention how much I loved Charlotte’s hair!  Her make up artist did it in a way she had a updo at first and in the car she just took it out to have her hair long!  I thought it was so clever how she could have two different hairstyles in one session!!!  If you want the make up artists info here it is!  Stephanie Lau kawaiinee@yahoo.com

Now onto the photos!

I’ve decided to add a “photobooth” service to my wedding packages.  I personally love having photobooths at receptions because it gives the guests something to do and it’s really fun!  Who doesn’t like to get dressed up funny to take pictures?!?!?!

Maybe I should call mine the photo corner because technically it’s not a real booth…but it’s still equally as fun!

So yesterday I set up the whole thing in the living room and had some fun with it!

I can’t help myself. She’s so cute I want to eat her!

And I saved the best for last!  My dad was doing something in the garage and he emerged looking like this. Of course I had to get a picture of it!

ahhhh!! SO CUTE :) i love them…and i think photo corner sounds super cute :) i’d rather have a photo corner than a photo booth!

TOTALLY AWESOME FAMILY SESSION!

September 21, 2009

What do you get when you have 9 people and 3 dogs to photograph?!  A totally awesome session with lots of chaos and laughs!

One of my favorites from this session!

FALLING IN LOVE

September 3, 2009

Where have I been?!  It’s been a busy month for me and I’m preparing for an even busier September!  Like always I’m behind on blogging, but I’m setting a goal for myself to really work hard to blog as much as possible!  So hopefully you guys will see multiple entries per week now!

What’s all this about falling in love you ask.  No I’m not getting married, no I don’t have a boyfriend, but I can now tell you what it feels like to instantly fall in love with someone.  My niece was born on August 19.  They say parents fall in love with their baby from the moment he/she is born, I can tell you that feeling extends to grandparents and even aunts.  I’m sure the level of love my sister feels for her daughter is so much higher, but in that moment the world stopped, my heart stopped as I saw my niece for the first time.

This is Karly  moments after birth.  I honestly thought she would look a lot more wrinkly and squished rather than a cute alert baby!

The happy mom + baby

She’s so tiny!  She had so much hair we could already put a ribbon on her hair within a few hours!
